FAQS
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?
The first part of your first session will involve a review of your intake form, a medical assessment to determine whether massage can be carried out, a full assessment of any presented issues (if any), a discussion about your goals and a joint agreement on the most suitable treatment plan. The remainder of the session will be the start of your treatment plan.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY MASSAGE?
1. Make sure you are hydrated before you go to your massage appointment and prepared to drink plenty of water following your appointment. Staying hydrated before and after a massage is recommended because the water helps flush those released toxins out.
2. Plan to wear or at least bring loose comfortable clothing with you. You will be asked to remove some clothing depending on the areas being worked on and only to your own comfort level.
Wearing loose clothing to your massage will make the undressing process much easier for you. After your massage, you may feel tender or just extremely relaxed and you will appreciate not having to put on restrictive clothing.
3. The relaxation of your body and mind is key to getting the most out of your massage session. Normal breathing helps expedite relaxation. Holding your breath often contracts your muscles more, making them tougher to loosen. Inhale and exhale normally while your therapist executes various massage techniques.
4. Communication from you is very important to me as only you know how you are feeling at each session. As a massage therapist I'm here to make you feel better and to leave having had a beneficial experience. I can and will adjust techniques to accommodate your changing physical needs, so come prepared to relax but also to communicate when needed.
